What people are saying.

What most people don’t see in the public face of elite athletes is the low points: the injuries, overtraining, and mental struggles. It was an injury (from running) that first got me into cycling, and in the latter years of my pro cycling career it was overtraining and stress that limited my performance. When I stepped back from road cycling I wanted to return to my favourite sport: mountain running! But I was plagued by overuse injuries again and again...
Tim has helped me adapt my training program to reduce injury incidence, which is the single greatest performance benefit most athletes can hope for. With his physiotherapist education and practice, as well as extensive personal and coaching experience, I have total confidence in the scientific accuracy of his advice. That removes a great deal of anxiety for me in my training and racing.
Best of all, Tim understands the importance of enjoyment and variation. He’s introduced the run consitency and complementary strength training I needed without forcing me into a boring robotic routine. I can still take on the “crazy” adventures and challenges which motivate me and bring me joy! And he provides a calm and understanding ear to listen when needed.

“Before working with Tim, I was at rock bottom physically - I was sat at home recovering from torn bicep tendon surgery and felt the most unfit I'd been in years. I had ran my first ultra in 2018 - The Haworth Hobble (32 miles/4500ft ascent) could barely walk afterwards and was injured for 2 months!

After that I had spent most of my time doing strength training until the injury stopped that too. Post surgery (Sep 8th) was my first run back and I couldn't run 3k without stopping for a rest.

I was so frustrated that I couldn't strength train and my running endurance had evaporated.  No endorphins from exercise, no work, no company at home  (everyone was at school/work) I was at a really low point in my life.....

When I first contacted Tim, after the hopeless 3k, it was September 2019 and I asked him whether he thought it was possible for me to do couch to 50k in 6 months (Hobble takes place in March) - his reply? Yes but it will be hard work!

It has been great having the accountability and experience from Tim, a veteran of many ultras himself! He is always accessible for my endless queries and I have regained my love of running thanks to his programming.

I am running more now than i ever have and dont suffer from any of the issues i used to before i had a running coach (Shin splints etc). I genuinely think i am fitter now at nearly 43 than i was at 23! So i completed the hobble this year, thankfully just before the lockdown a full 30 MINUTES  faster than last time, crucially i felt great afterwards, had a few days off then back out running.

In these uncertain times to have a structured running program is a godsend as it keeps me focused and hopefully fitter and faster than I've ever been when racing resumes again.

I'm still early in my running career but I cant wait to see what the future holds.”

Before working with Tim my training lacked structure and progression. I dreamt of completing an Ironman and had no idea where to begin. Tims input has been invaluable in improving the structure and quality of my training, both in regards to individual sessions and across the season. In addition thanks to Tims physiotherapy background his expert knowledge has been invaluable in overcoming any injuries or issues with training. With the structure and progression Tim has implemented I feel fitter and more focused.

I couldn’t recommend working with Tim more. With his help I have completed gone from an Olympic distance triathlon to completing Ironman Wales and the London Triathlon Weekend Warrior, with his personalised input and advise this was possible all whilst working a busy job and health issues.

Tim’s holistic and adaptive approach of running is particularly appreciated, especially in a time where the annual training plan is strongly disturbed by a worldwide health crisis

Prior to being coached by Tim I found every time I tried to increase my speed I broke myself. He taught me that my diesel engine was trying to power a chassis that wasn’t fit for purpose. We added a lot of strength and conditioning and drills. I learnt a lot about run form. We put those things together to produce more power and precision. I have always loved running as a way of being at one with nature. I thought focussed training would defeat my purpose of loving to run. Tim taught me to love both. He understands my perspectives and he keeps things interesting and fun.

“Tim began coaching me after quickly and successfully getting me back to fitness following an ITB injury. Since then he has added much needed structure to my training and racing in addition to great advice and support.  I have become much stronger as an athlete and more professional in my approach to training and racing. This has resulted in peaking successfully for several key races this year, including a  fourth at the 3 peaks race in 3.42, 9th at Snowdon International (2nd  Open), winning the four day coast to coast adventure race and my first ultra, the lakes in a day where I managed to break the course record. So far this year I have changed jobs, moved to Scotland and worked shifts. Tim has done a fantastic job designing a flexible training programme and accommodating all this! After some great achievements this year I am looking forward to working with Tim and achieving my goals in 2016 and beyond.”

“Tim provides expertise in all aspects of the process. Tim has trawled through the research. He has done the courses. He has lived the highs and lows with many others and can draw from a lifetime of experience to make his clients process of improvement smooth and stress free. Tim’s single best quality is an ability to adapt the academic principles to fit the individual psyche of the athlete. I personally work best with reassurance and no expectations however others need goals, daily plans down to every last detail. ”

Special thanks to Tim Pigott. I’ve been running for 8 years but new pbs at 10k, half and now full marathon since I’ve been working with him, all at the age of 39. Julian Hood - England Marathon Masters Vest

Before linking up with Tim I was just your average runner looking for my sub 3 marathon PB, self training but driving myself crazy trying to decide what book or plan or methodology to follow for my next attempt and prone to injury when I pushed too hard. Being in my 40s with 2 kids and full time work meant I was trying to maximise the time I had to run but not doing a great job of it.
Now a year later with Tim’s help everything is running so much smoother, I comfortably got my sub 3 pb and am pushing on into the mountains and ultras. My run schedule is laid out in advance in TrainingPeaks so I no longer have to worry about what I should do. And beyond just that there’s the regular feedback and advice, the strength & conditioning work with handy youtube videos, the science based tests and workouts, the load management and understanding that running has to fit with family life. I’m running more & better than ever and it’s all thanks to a great coach.
