Why do we do assessments?

Page being edited - come back soon!

Testing and assessments are paramount to any comprehensive program. Without this data we can not make informed decisions about training and racing, as the saying goes ‘what gets measured gets managed’.

While we may specify a session as being a ‘test’ or a ‘benchmark’ exercise, in truth every training session is a test and every test is simply a training session.

Some athletes will say they ‘don’t like tests’ / ‘don’t perform well in tests’. However this needs further exploring if you fall into this category. Races are tests, big races are like your final exams at school. They are a skill which needs practice to improve on, so the more we do them the better you will be. Assessments require your full focus and attention, you will need to be motivated to perform to your best, otherwise the data will be skewed and negatively inform future training sessions.

These are some of the tests we use with our athletes
